National Novel Writing Month NaNoWriMo 2013 Participant

Enough excuses. Here we go!

I came across this article, http://www.newtownbee.com/news/0001/11/30/second-novel-gets-jump-start-nanowrimo/172032, read the story about the author and really got sick and tired of seeing this. They can do it, so can I.

So I went over to the NaNoWriMo website and signed up. I am going all in here. I filled out my bio and have committed to focus on my Perspectives novel/collection. This is going to be a big shift, but really all I need to do is shift my other Internet research and readings to writing resources, research and readings. Finding time to get 1,000 words written a day will be a challenge but there will be days I will crank out more and other days I will crank out less. As long as I stay on an average I will make it.

Also, I need to break out of this mindset that my first draft has to be good, even readable. It just needs to get written. Editing will take care of the rest. Get the meat, trim the fat. I will be using the forums of the NaNoWriMo site to look for support and encouragement from that. I will also be using this blog as a journal of the progress too. I will become what I set out to be, Geek To Author. Not for fame, just for completion. Then work on the rest.

Now I have a few days to prepare, schedule, get disciplined because comes Friday I need to get my first few thousand words done. I will count the drafts I already begun, but they are so small and weak anyway I might as well start from scratch.

This should be fun.

Time to turn the page.
